Why 6 Out of 10 Employees Plan to Switch Jobs in 2025
As students are enrolling in the Career Coach Entrepreneur Academy for the cohort starting January 7, 2025, I am watching the projected labor market trends for 2025. According to multiple sources, droves of workers are ready to ditch their current jobs.
An article in Inc. Magazine published in October 2024 cited a study conducted by ResumeTemplates.com that found “56 percent of full-time employees in the U.S. want a new job in 2025, and 27 percent have already started searching. One in three plan to quit their current job next year even if they don’t have a new one lined up.”
Employees are seeking new opportunities for varied reasons. Topping the list are frustrations around compensation, burnout, feelings of underappreciation, and limited growth opportunities in their current roles. Additionally, a deep desire for balance and stability was stated as critical for 98 percent of study respondents.
Returning to office (RTO) mandates are contributing to the exodus. In November 2024 the Kadence company reported that “RTO mandates are stirring up conflict within leadership teams. Employees, meanwhile, are voting with their feet—opting to leave rather than lose the flexibility they’ve grown to love.”
If you currently work in an organization in the areas of talent development or employee retention, you are aware of these trends. Directly addressing career dissatisfaction through career coaching will be key to stemming unwanted turnover.
Outside the walls of organizations, career coaches in private practice will be an invaluable resource. The focused attention of an ICF-certified career coach will accelerate the efficiency and quality of the career transition.
I bring this to your attention today, offering a bright future for those of you yearning to expand your career coaching skills and knowledge. Please be aware that the early bird deadline for the January cohort is rapidly approaching. Reach out to me before Tuesday, December 9th to secure your discount.
