Last Tuesday evening we finished the Tuesday Together cohort of the Career Coach Entrepreneur Academy. As a closing activity, students coached each other, reflecting on their growth and key learnings. It’s eye-opening because I never know what challenges a prospective coach faces when they join the Academy.
A portrait of courage unfolded as I discovered one student, Sharon Olbeter, came to the Academy with substantial hurdles to overcome.
First, and probably most significant, Sharon had attended other coaching schools and didn’t receive the support she needed to develop her coaching skills. Her confidence in coaching was very low. But, it was important to her to become a masterful coach, so she put herself into yet another coaching school.
Sharon’s second challenge was the transition from traditional employment to an entrepreneurial venture. She had been highly successful in the structure of her career, rising to senior executive roles. Now, starting her own business she felt isolated and unsure.
Finally, she battles the plague of perfectionism, which is an insidious problem when you enter the coaching profession. By definition, coaching is dancing in the moment with no attachment to the outcome--a nightmare for anyone who needs to be prepared and perfect. Add the need to accept “good enough” when it comes to self-employment, this woman had her hands full.
I am beyond pleased to report Sharon has become a first-class coach with blooming confidence. This was achieved through hours of coaching practice in a safe, supportive environment. Smart, determined, and dedicated, she is ready to help countless clients in her career coaching practice.
It’s not too late for you to add career coaching to your skill set. The next cohort of the Career Coach Entrepreneur Academy starts soon. Please contact me to schedule a time to get your questions answered.
